JOB DESCRIPTIONS & GENERAL SCHEDULE NOTES
General Information: We are continuing Double Features at the Celestial Cinema. This means that many volunteer jobs have an early and a late shift. We are adding an Info Table at the Shoppes at Wailea. Unless you are assigned one, DO NOT drive golf carts.
Venues in Wailea where we will need volunteers;
- Celestial Cinema at the Gold & Emerald Course
- The Digital SkyDome on top of the Wailea Marriott
- SandDance (on beach at Four Seasons)
- Info Table monitor at the Seawatch Lobby
- Taste of Wailea
- Taste of Chocolate
- Parties & Receptions
- Father's Day Concert
Info Table Monitors
Info Table Monitors will sit at the information table in the lobby of the Wailea Golf Club (Seawatch Restaurant lobby) and answer questions regarding the festival as well as hand out information. It's a "learn on the job" position and especially suited to those who have difficulty standing or walking. We need people starting the 12th and on a daily basis through the 17th from 11a - 3p and 3p - 7p.
Ticket Takers
Ticket Takers will arrive 1/2 hour prior to the gates opening (varies on different days) and take tickets. 2 people taking tickets and 2 people counting with clickers. Experience is desirable. Ticket takers will be on from approx. 6:30p - 9:30. Once they stop taking tickets at 8:30p they should come to the office and hand in tickets/counters -- then they can move up to the event site and be monitors, once they have checked in at the office and given ticket counts. There is also a late shift for ticket taking from 9:30pm - 1:30am for the 2nd feature, although ticket taking generally end around 11. Late shift ticket takers can then move up to the movie venue and provide clean up services until 1am.
Ushers
Ushers will be staged along the pathways to show people the way, as well as on the event site to regulate traffic. After the sun sets, they will be positioned with flashlights so people who need to see will have a light available - toward the paths, or the restroom, etc. These and security persons, as well as monitors, sometimes overlap at event site. It is very helpful to bring your own flashlight. Approx. times 6:00p - 10:00p and 9:00p - 1:00a
Monitors
Monitors are primarily responsible for cleanup - during and after the events. During the parties monitors go around and pick up plates, trash, etc. and make sure everything is in order. The monitors or clean up crew at the end of the evening just need to make sure all the trash is up off the range and things are in order. The biggest job for monitors is the "Taste of Wailea" which will be listed separately. 2 shifts - one for parties 5p - 9p and Event 7 - 11p. Ushers also act as monitors at the Celestial Cinema.
Merchandise Tent
The merchandise tent sells T-shirts, chairs, and handles chair rental and return. Volunteer needs to have retail experience, people skills and patience. It can be stressful at times! 6:30-10:30p and 9:30p-1:00a.
Security
Most of the Security positions will be covered by paid professional security in 2006. However, there may be a need for certain types of security as follows:
Grounds security: stationed at the entrance to any cart paths where people without tickets could enter unauthorized, as well as to each side of the screen to ensure no children are running around beside or behind the screen.
Parking lot security: This is primarily for the Special Event parking lot to help the Burns Security personnel park cars.
Party security: There are a number of parties that will need security and clean-up help.
SandDance security: Monitor beach and assist projectionist at SandDance Theatre on Wailea Beach at Four Seasons. (2) at 7-11 to help setup, watch equipment, monitor and help show people where to go when they arrive (1) at 9:00p - 1:00a to monitor and assist with clean up, 1 at 9 - 1a. This is a pretty mellow event and doesn't require much, but we need people there just in case - especially to make sure the beach is left clean. This is a 3 night event Thurs, Fri, Sat. Past year attendees who enjoy silent classics love this event.
Golf Cart Drivers: Everyone's favorite, but restricted to experienced drivers.
Taste of Wailea (Sat., June 17th): Always a popular volunteer event, the TOW utilizes Ticket Takers, Human Directionals, Set up people, Wait Staff, Rubbish Control, Bus Station, Replenishers, Shuttle Greeters and Security.
Festival policy is that volunteers DO NOT get to sample the food.
Please eat before or after your shift.
