Dear Maui Film Festival Supporters,
Thank you for your interest in supporting the 2007 Maui Film Festival at Wailea. As a volunteer candidate, you represent the face of the festival. We'll support you all we can so that you can enjoy the benefits outlined on the "NEED TO KNOW!" page on this website. Last year we utilized the services of about 250 volunteers. and will be seeking a similar number this year. Once again, those ranks will increase by at least 10%. With another year of experience under our belts (year 8), all aspects of the festival will run smoother.
Changes in 2007
My fabulous volunteer coordinator assistant, Maggie Welker, is moving to the box office, replacing Andrea Dean. Replacing Maggie is Danielle Furman. You can meet her at the orientation meeting on Wed., June 6th at 5:30pm at the MACC.
Each 4-hour volunteer shift entitles a volunteer to two $10 movie tickets (which can ONLY be used for the June festival) - plus - one $10 Wednesday night film ticket, usable throughout the year. This is a change from previous years designed to reduce the conflict between wanting to volunteer and wanting to watch the films.
Wednesday and Thursday night will feature a triple feature, requiring the addition of a late late shift (10p-2a). There's something quite sacred about picking up trash in the driving range at 1:30am with Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" broadcast on a world class THX sound system. You won't want to miss that!
We'll also be putting together a questionnaire crew to improve our awareness of festival psychographics.
Mahalo's
Barry, Stella, the Rivers Family, and their extended ohana of filmophiles have put together an amazing schedule of films again for 2007. Keep in mind that I am only scheduling volunteers for the Wailea films and special event venues. The MACC has its own volunteer staff (under the direction of Mariana Matthews) along with its own training and orientation protocol.
To prepare for scheduling please familiarize yourself with the "NEED TO KNOW!" section describing the various jobs, what to wear, how you are "perked", parking, etc. Then look at the WORK SCHEDULE to determine how you can best serve, based on your interests and experience. If you have experience as a ticket taker or working in the merchandise booth, let me know as experience is prefered with these particular jobs. Then, review the Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and the main Maui Film Festival site.
To be considered as a volunteer, please go to the volunteer application form. I will contact you as soon as possible. Please be patient.
Mahalo, and enjoy this year's festival at Wailea.
